If you take good care of any car it can last for years. If you can, ask the seller if you can take the car to a trusted technician to have it checked out for body/wreck damages and engine/transmission problems. If they are honest, they won't mind and will even go with you or already know of any problems. You never know until you ask..
The dodge neons are actually quite good cars, small, easy on gas, and will last more than a few years if taken care of.
