I have a 1992 Buick LeSabre and my door/windshield gaskets are shrinking! I used Mono Ultra Exterior on the door gaskets, and they seem to be fine now, but I still have some moisture collecting on my windshield.
Would it be a bad idea to run a bead of Mono around my windshield? I don't plan on replacing it, and I wouldn't unless it was fully smashed in.
If I do use the Mono, would the best spot to be where the windshield and the gasket overlap on the outside, or should I use the Mono in the car?
And for S&G, ballpark how much would it cost to have a new windshield put in, I'd probably need the gasket as well, and I doubt they'd let me bring one from the junkyard for them to use.
The Manual on one of my GM cars of around that era recommended periodic dressing of these areas with a silicone spray compound (something like you would use for weatherproofing winter boots). This keeps the gasket more moist and flexible. I am not sure how well this would work on a car of almost twenty years which has possibly never had this done to it before.
