1992 ford crown victoria egr valve low voltage?
engine goes flat on acceleration on road when trying to pick up speed. let up throttle then push seems to adjust its self better running. Vibrates and loses power.
That's exactly the code I just read out of my '92 Ford Crown Victoria also, believe it or not!! It's been illuminating intermittently for the last year, so I finally read the code out. My car seems to be performing well so I haven't worried about it knowing how big of a job it is to work on it way back there by the firewall. About 3 years back I had to pay the Ford dealer to pull off the EGR valve and clean out the EGR passageways which fixed the performance problems and check engine light at that time. The bill was over $300. But my guess is that the EGR passage ways in the intake manifold tend to get clogged up on the Crown Vics. One of the codes has to do with the EGR flow rate being reduced. I wouldn't attempt to do the job myself, it's just too hard for a shadetree mechanic. But you could do the basic EGR diagnostic tree troubleshooting to make sure it isn't just a sensor.
As to your acceleration, I don't know whether you realize all the problems Ford had with the ignition wires on the Crown Vics and Grand Marquis. The original wires didn't last long and had to be replaced. So if you've never replaced your spark plug wires, by all means do that! In addition, when you take the wire end out of the coil packs, look down into the coil aluminum terminals and see the corrosion that forms down in there! Really serious and I have to clean them every few years with a small wire brush to get the corrosion out. Good luck with the new wires.
