03 Jeep Grand Cherokee, v8 4wd, auto. It started running real weakly till the fuel pump quit alltogether. I dropped the tank, found the sugar and cleaned it out. The sock was jammed full of sugar so I replaced the Assembly with a used one. Now I cant hear the fuel pump come on nor is there pressure at the pressure relif valve on the fueil rail. The motor turns over good and will start with gas in the air intake hole. Mysth Busters on t v proved stugar wouldnt hurt the motor. I moved all the relayse around but no noise from the fueil pump ???? Got any Ideals ?
But sugar WILL clog and burn up a fuel pump. Replace your fuel pump after making sure you're getting power to it.
BTW. I don't care WHAT Mythbuster said. Apparantly, they've never torn down an engine that sugar did make it to. With modern cars, the sock in the tank and the inline filter usually catches everything, but if the sugar makes it to the engine, it CAN and WILL ruin it. I've seen them bust several myths on that show that I've seen PROVED with my own eyes. IT'S A TV SHOW FOR CRYING OUT LOUD.
