I have a 10 gallon tank and I had one snail in there, his name was Gary. :[ Anyways he died yesterday and I don't know why. Could it be because the aquarium got to hot? Yesterday we had a power outage for about 30 minutes, nothing major, but the aquarium got really hot because it was very humid out and it was a down poor so we couldn't open the windows. The fish are tropical, so they are fine, but could the heat have killed Gary? The tank got to 86, but then went down to 84. Also while I'm talking about power outages, what would I do if we had a power outage for a long period of time?
that is a little hot but probly didnt kill him, he may have just been old, or a fish may have eaten it, or the gravel may be too dirty. if the tank gets that hot again try adding a few ice cubes at a time, they will have naturally decloranated and would be safe, just not too many at a time. the most dangerouse things about power outages is that the air bubles go off, fish might suffacate in the non oxygynated water, its worse in small tanks. you can take a cup or bottle and fill it whith water from the tank, and pour it back in from several inches above surface leval, creating bubles, this is only gonna be temporary since you cant do it all night but do it as much as you can, it might be good to find a batterie operated air pump if you lose power a lot
