What size wrench will remove the EGR valve off of a '96 Town Car?
I need to replace my EGR valve. My service book only tells me to "loosen the ERG valve with a sizeable wrench" I don't think I can go into Auto Zone and ask for a "sizeable wrench." Does anyone know what size I need to remove it?

I believe the size is 1-1/16" for the EGR tube fitting you refer to. However, are you SURE your EGR valve is what needs replaced? Who's telling you it needs to be replaced? One of the most commonly misdiagnosed problem on Ford products is replacing the EGR valve for EGR codes, when it is in fact the DPFE sensor that actually needed replacing. This is the little black box with a big and small rubber hose connected to the EGR tube on the other end. This is a dealer only item. Go to your Ford dealer parts department and ask for part number F77Z-9J460-AB to get the part you need if that's the case. If the the DPFE reading at engine idle is 4.99 volts instead of 0.5 to 0.99 volts, that is your problem. Hope this helps.
