Hey recently bought a 2003 dodge ram quad cab. The back windows are slightly tinted, im not sure if its factory tint or film. First off, what's a quick way to tell if it is tinted glass or film? Next, id like to tint all my windows to near limo black, can i simply tint the windows as is? I have removed film before and i know its a pain in the ass, so is it possible to tint over old film with good results? I have tinted a few of my vehicles in the past and they turned out quite well, but i have had trouble with curved glass. Is there any tips or tricks to getting the film to lay without bubbles, such as a heat gun? thanks in advance
I had my windows done by a professional on my truck. I was pulled over by highway patrol and given a fine and a fix-it ticket. As you say, it was a pain to remove all the tinting. I agree with the other post that you should check your state laws before you invest in tinting. What surprises me is that all the "tint" shops will do whatever you request even though it's against the law. They do not advise the customer. It was a big waste of my money and my time. I would like to add that I understand that police and highway patrol want to be able to see inside a car that they are approaching. Makes sense to me. (sorry I don't have the answers to your questions on how to do it).
