question: mustang 66 smog?
question: today i was driveing my mustang 66 by a car car accident down my street and a cop stoped me and asked me why was there big chunks of blue white smoke comeing out of my tail pipe? he said he could give me a tecket if he was not patrolling the car accident. cop said to fix it. what could it be and how much would it cost to fix it?
It's obvious that your car needs some work. A properly running engine will not have any smoke coming out of the tailpipe. Blue smoke indicates a worn engine or worn heads. California does have a Smog Check for that car. I have to pass the tailpipe test every other year to get my registration tags. I also have 10 other cars that have to do the same thing too. You need to make sure that you car is in proper tune to start with fresh cap, rotor, wires, plugs, points and condenser. Then everything has to be set to the correct specs. As far as a cost, it's anybody's guess. If you cannot diagnose the problem yourself, you'll have to take it into a shop familiar with this old of a car. If repairs are beyond your budget, then you have a problem. This how the State of CA is ridding the state of older cars.
