Ok, so while i was backing out, i hit the pole in our garage and broke the side view mirror and it was completely ripped off....and what is the cost?
It depends if you do the work yourself or take it to a repair shop, but a job like this is relatively inexpensive. The steps you'd have to do are:
Remove the door panel
Locate the bolts/screws which hold the mirror onto the car.
Loosen the bolts/screws. If you have power mirrors, disconnect the wiring harness before completely removing the fasteners.
Once the bolts/screws are removed, the mirror should come right off of the vehicle. At this point, you can either go to a junkyard and pick one up, or go to a dealership which sells parts for your vehicle and purchase a brand new one.
Installation of the mirror is the reverse of removal.
Some models might have foam behind the mirror (on the inside) as soundproofing and insulation, to keep wind out of your car at higher speeds. Make sure to replace the foam, or you may notice a draft coming in, especially on the highway or during winter months.
