fan/pump??? in front left corner(when looking at front) in 2000 passat?
the car keeps getting drawn dead after it sits for a little while, i have replaced the battery, the altanater, and now i just replaced the secondary air pump, i am dumping money into this car and neither i nor the mechanic (obviously) can figure it out.....any i deas what is wrong....
well, its not too dirty but i think it has something to do with this fan/pump that stays on when i turn the car off......do u know what it could be or have you ever heard of this?
actually, the process listed by the other two posters will not work, in order for a dvm to read amps, it must be in line not in parrallel with the circuit being tested, and pulling the fuses will shut off the circuits, oh and you will need the door open so you will have to trip the latch, and not lean into the car for the interior monitoring system!. the pump that you are speaking of, i am assuming that is the after run coolant pump, it will run for 5-10 minutes after you shut the car off, so park the car for a half hour or so, and then check if it is still running. a much more common problem on this car is volkswagens notoriously bad door latches, shut the doors, and lock it, then peer in the windows, and make sure that the puddle lights on the doors are not staying on, it is easier to see them at night!!! if not, then fold down the rear seats and check that the trunk light is not staying on, or the glovebox light.
