Landlords job to seal windows for bitter winter cold?
The windows in my attic apartment were ill fitted and none of them close properly. Each window has a 1-2 inch gap at the very top and no matter how hard you try, it they won't close properly or lock in place.
Now that winter has hit and there is freezing cold winds, it's like an ice box in my apartment. My gas bill is through the roof because the heat stays on all the time. I leave it at 68, but it feels like it's not on at all because the wind and bitter cold comes right through the windows
Is it my landlords job to seal the windows? I was going to go to Home Depot and buy some plastic o put up, but shouldn't the landlord do that at his expence?? I'm assuming it can be costly to seal all the windows and to be honest, I can't really afford to do much right now
Should I request that my landlord do that for me? It's freezing and my gas bill is ridiculously high, and for no good reason because we're still cold!
Regardless of the answer to your question would it not pay you in the long run to cover the windows with plastic yourself? Yes, call and complain but do some self help here as well.
Good Luck.
