Water Sealant for front door?
The front door to my cottage is wood and there is no screen door at all. Well the other day it was raining hard in the afternoon and a little bit of the paint on the top part of the door started to chip off, very small fragments of paint(just under the glass window part at the top of the door). And little drops of water started to slowly form right where the little specks of paint had chipped off and then these little drops of water started slowly running down the front of the door onto my floor.
So is there anything I can get to seal that up and prevent further leaks into my cottage the next time it rains. Thank a lot!
You can use caulking , from any home improvement or hardware store. It comes in tubes and in cans. It is squishes into the gap between your window and the wood of your door.
It may not be visible to you, but make a line of the caulking around the pane of glass. Ask the store to show you the technique if you are unfamiliar.
It is the same as when you caulk around your bathtub or other windows to keep them from leaking.
Putting an awning over your doorway will help protect the door from direct rain. You could also put a glass storm door outside your wood door.
