What does the air pressure mean?

so im doing a project for science and i need to predict the next day's weather by the clouds precipitation temperature and air pressure from the day before. i can't remember what my teacher said. but is it if the air pressure is high it means it's suppose to be a nice and clear day ? and if the air pressure is low it means it's gonna rain ? or is i the other way around ? and uhh how do yuh determine if the air pressure is low or high? sorry. checking over my project and im sooo lost .

It is not so much the current pressure that matters, it is how the pressure is changing that matters. See if you can find the pressure from a few hours ago and compare it to now. Did the pressure drop? If the pressure did in fact drop, then that is one indication that the next day will be cloudy, or a good chance of precipitation. If the pressure went up, then there is a good chance that it will clear up and be clear for the next day. Traditionally, lower pressures bring poor weather and higher pressures bring good weather.

To check it just go to any weather website, local or national, for your location. They will always have the barometric pressure listed somewhere on their page. Good luck with the project.
