code p0401 and p1491 on honda prelude?
What is the different between code p0401 "EGR flow insufficient" and code p1491 "manufacture control: auxiliary emission controls"?
I heard that both those codes are related to EGR. But i had already clean the carbon in the 2 ports on the engine and the EGR valve. I used carb, rag and flat screwdriver and try to get it clean as best as i can. Screw everything back on and code p0401 "EGR flow insuffiecient" went away except code p1491. How come that code didn't went away? Need help asap. thanks for your help
P1491 is "EGR valve lift insufficient detected" (see source)
The EGR valve is a servo mechanism; the vacuum control valve (follow the vacuum hose back from the EGR valve) applies vacuum to it until the lift is right based on what the ECU thinks. It really doesn't matter if the ECU is right or wrong, the servo mechanism should open (lift) the EGR valve enough to satisfy the ECU. Have a close look at the vacuum hoses from the EGR valve to the control valve, and from the control valve to the manifold. I'm guessing there is a blockage or a hole.
