1998 FORD EXPEDITION EMISSION PROBLEMS?
I have a 98' ford expedition that i have been having emission problems with. I have had several egr valves put in by friends. some valves last a week and some a little longer. the motorcraft lasted me the longest. 2-3 months. autozone check it for me again because the light came on and they told me you have to have the to lines cleaned as well when you put on the egr valve. iI dont know if that was done at all. Autozone said it could be easier just to replace the lines. does anyone know what he talking about. What 2 lines and are they expensive. Or is he just trying to get me to buy parts? any help would be great. when the engine light comes on the truck really isn't running bad like most of the times with egr. we also put in a dpfe sensor i think it was called.any help would be great thanks
This is difficult. The ERG valve is the Exhaust Gas Recirculation. It suppose to try to re burn some of the burned gases going out the exhaust. The lines they want you to replace maybe clogged.
There are two metal pipes, i wouldn't buy any new ones. I would just remove them and check for blockage. They are metal pipes so no much can go wrong, maybe a hole in them. A little JB Weld would fix that.
If it were my I would check my PVC valve on the engine. Take it out and it should rattle. No more than it is (3.99) I would replace it. Also could be your vaccum going into the EGR.
