How do I put my 98' Land Rover Discovery SE in and out of 4 wheel drive?!?

The disco 1 is permanant 4wd, there is no way to put it in and out of 4wd at all. However, you do have the option of both high & low gear ratio's & a diff lock to play with. They are designed more for use when you get stuck or have to climb a large muddy hill & in most normal conditions there is no need to use them on a tarmac road at all!
The small gear stick is to allow you to change from high to low ratio, you push it to the side when you need the diff lock. On normal roads you simply leave it in high ratio & drive normally.
