head gasket repair in a bottle?
i have a 84 nissan pick up with only 115,000 miles on it but it recently started blowing a lot of steam from exhaust, it still runs fine ,doesn't seem to be mixing water in the oil just a strong odor of antifreeze inside and out, has anybody tried any of the remedys that autozone or any other retailer sales for this problem such as liquid glass,or barsleak headgasket repair......please help
Yes, there are alot of products sold that claim to fix your problem, and maybe some of them can fix it for a while, but in my expirence, there is no such thing as a "Mechaninc in a Can". In no way will pouring a can of anything in your engine be better than having a certified mechanic repair it correctly with the propper parts. By doing this you also ensure that any other problems that have stemed from this, or that caused this, are found and diagnosed by someone who knows what to look for. My advice, if you have a trusted mechaninc, take your vehicle to him and explain everything that has happened, and ask him what he thinks the best way to handle it is.
If you do not have a trusted mechanic you use, I would highly recomend finding one, it is always good to have a trusted mechanic in the area you live, it means you have someone you know you can trust to take your vehicle to for repairs. For help finding a good mechanic, ask around and see who friends use and have used, you can also consult the Better Business Bureau to find a list of BBB Members in your area, these are shops that the BBB has found to be upstanding and honest and have no unresolved issues or complaints against them.
