HELP PO 442 code (small evap leak )98 Chevy Lumina 3.8 v6?
Im in SNJ . cant get this car inspected with this code PO442 Im on a fixed income and disabled cant afford repairs at a shop . anybody know where i can start to find this leak ? (gas cap checked ok)......I know about the black smoke test but i cant afford it ... where is the evap canister on this car ?is there any Link on line to find this system on the car... i have checked on line and had no luck ..has anyone had this problem on a 98 lumina with a v6 ? I need to fix this ASAP or i have to take it off the road and ill have no vehicle
I own a shop, and think this; I think they are hidden inside the fender well, and to get to the filter, you must remove the wheel, and the inner fender well to access it. You can also follow the line from the engine to which side its hidden on, but check the lines coming from the engine, as many times I have found them to have a crack in them, and suck air. Also; check the vacuum line from the engine to the purge control valve, as this can often set off this code. If you don't find it after all of this, then you will have to trace all the lines all the way to the tank, and test each for cracks, or split hose where they plug on.
Its a bitch being on a limited income, and I know what many people have to go through just to keep their heads above water.
