How do i replace a cracked on tail light ford taurus 2007?
i have a cracked tail light i need to replace it..how do i put the new assembly in?
Ihave a slight crack in my tail light..someone hit my car in a parking lot. I thought nothing of it as it does not effect the light and is only visable when you get close. I took car for inspection yesterday..they failed it due to the crack..deffinetly they were looking for business..they tried to charge me 175.00 to fix it!
that just seemed a little much..they were not going to let me go telling me that i would get a ticket.
I left..i went home researched the part price 30.00..they told me 75-100 and that was a deal..
the tail light itself is the only thing that concerns be removing the wire..how does that come out?
there are no wing nuts..there are just tiny screws..what do i use to remove them?

Look in the trunk. Carpet trim covers the rear inside so remove or push it out of the way. There may be fasteners holding this on. So remove them and the carpet trim, then you can see the tail light fasteners.
Most of these have big plastic wing nuts you can remove with your fingers. Some have tin nuts.
There are four or five of them so unscrew them and wiggle the assembly, it should come free.
Then turn the light sockets and put them in the same position on the new assembly one by one. Check that the lights work correctly and then re-assemble it, putting the threaded pins in the holes and the wing nuts on the threaded pins.
Now put the carpet trim back into place and you are done.
