ford/lincoln/mercury transponder key?
my chip fell out of my transponder key. what is the cheapest way to fix it??? '99 merc. gran marquis
First thing to try is your local locksmith or (good) hardware store - some place that makes spare keys. Many will not have these special keys, but some do. Further, some that have the keys can not program them. Perhaps some can, but that might be a dealer-only job.
Next, call several Ford dealers around town. Get prices from each.
Price the new key out both ways, bite the bullet, and get a new one made. It won't be dirt cheap, but at least you'll know you got the best deal you could.
