my fiero has lack of power and the tach seems to spike around and backfire.also bogs and coughs going up hill?
my fiero is a 1987 4 cyl. i have replaced my spark plugs, Wires with 8mm super stock, high output 40,000 volt coils. cut out my catyletic conv. and changed my air filter, and my fuel filter. i've tested my egr valve by plugging it off as well. these steps have improved the problem, but original symptoms are still there. i've also seperated all my spark plug wires and made surethere wasnt contact between metal and them.
Check the fuel pressure and check the volume of gas flow, your fuel pump might be failing and or the "mesh screen in it is clogged up. You may have to drop the gas tank to check these.
* I had the same exact trouble with my 1988 Chevy Silverado, it took me about three weeks to find out what i just mentioned to you. i literally fixed it Thursday afternoon.
