Can a extreme aggressive african cichlid live with 2 oscars,6 jds?
I wanted to keep an extreme aggressive electric blue african cichlid with my 2 oscars, 2 convicts and 4 jack dempseys but a guy from petsmart told me that i cant keep african and american cichlids in same tank. And even if i do put em 2gether either my jack dempsey will get killed or the electric blue cichlid will get killed. Can someone tell me if its true. Btw my 2 convicts and 2 jack dempseys are about 2 to 3 inch long. My other 2 dempseys are exact same size as the electric blue, about 3 to 4 inches big. And my oscars are about 2 inches big.
You can house the oscars, jd's, and convicts together if you have a big enough tank for them (at least a 120 gallon with the fish you have now) but I wouldn't suggest mixing the african with them. Many people will tell you it's because they need different water needs, but most people don't mess with pH's and KH's. So that part of it doesn't matter though it is true. I would just not mix them for one, the oscars are more of gentle giants and can be beat up by the aggressive africans, or the africans will beat on the others or vice versa.
