ok my son has a 97 ford explorer, it was running when he came home tuesday night and parked, now its doing some crazy stuff, number 1) it cranks fine and has plenty of fuel pressure but no fire at all, the coil packs are good already tested them, number 2) it does not have daytime running lights but now when you turn the ignition switch on all the lights come on, headlights, taillights, and park lights, it never did this before, number 3) the driver side window will move about half way up then it stops, power windows, all of this started at the same time so does anyone have any ideas? pcm? short somewhere? it's driving me nuts, any help will be greatly appreciated
Lets see, where to start. I would check to see if your ecm is comunicating or even powering up. The rest of your problems seem like a relay is stuck on and when you power up the circut it is also powering that circut. Has your son added naything lately that might have had to be wired in? Not sure some ecm's on there power up diagnostics check circuts and if it sees proplems it can keep the car from starting. So with out a detailed wiring diagram to follow the power circut it would be hard to tell whats going on. I hope this helps some how.
