It has a water leak believed to be a the water pump and the cv joint is popping. It smokes a little when first cranked most likely due to worn out seals in the motor. I was wondering if it is worth fixing. If so should I just fix the water pump and wait and see if the motor outlasts the cv joint? It is a 98 chevy metro lsi 4 door. It is the 4 cyl. not the 3 cyl. I forgot to mention the drivers door is jammed and its hard to get open. Other than that it runs great. It did quit running due to loss of water one day about 3 weeks ago but I put water in it and drove it home. I don't believe it damaged the motor because it still sounds the same and ran home fine. I just had to hurry and drive it home before all the water leaked out. I crank it about every few days because it is bad to leave a car sitting. Well thanks for any answers.
its a $500.00 car, depending on what they happen to be paying for scrap metal. normally I would say fix a car at this mileage if it has been well maintained but a 98 Metro is just too risky to take a chance on. when you overheat a car to the point that it quits running with that many miles, you only have about a 25% chance that it would be OK for any appreciable length of time. good luck with what ever you decide.
