I have a heating pipe that burst early saturday morning. I live in an apt in which I cannot control the heat. I opened the sliding door(which is right above where the leak happened) to let out some of the heat. I am being blamed for the leak by the building rep because of having the door open. I have some thought on the situation but I'd like to hear what you guys have to say. thanks
Provide more details for us. Size of pipe, insulation, how close to the door, temp inside/outside, was their water flowing in the pipe (guessing so since heat was uncontrollably "on"?), etc.
If there was even a trickle of flow through this pipe, it is very likely not your fault. In addition, their might be some fault on the building management for not giving you control of the temperature. Also, if the pipes were near the ceiling, they would have been near the warmest air in the space...
