I'm driving a mid-90s Toyota Corolla that pretty much tells me every morning and evening - "Please retire me". (although it has been a good little car) and came for under $2500.
I'm torn between this desire to get an American car or play it safe with an import, and have a budget under 6-7K. I've heard enough to stay away from the older Ford models. But how about a Pontiac, Saturn or a Chevy or a Dodge/Chrysler or a Mercury?
Any experiences will be welcome? I don't want to spend 6-7K on a car and then listen to it whine every day. Believe it or not, 6-7K is a big amount for me.
I've read some reviews on sites like internetautoworld, but they all speak good about everything!
I was the proud owner of a 96 Saturn that I paid $7200 at the Saturn dealership for and never had one bit of trouble out of her. It was a two door and we were trying to start a family so I upgraded to a Chevy Trailblazer. Luckily, I sold her to a family member so I still get to see her occasionally. Gas mileage was great, too. I would definitely recommend a Saturn.
