Car starter/Bypass kit?
Hi, I was hoping to buy my friend a car starter for Christmas (installed as well) and I think I narrowed it down to a ProStart car starter. Her car is either an 03 or 04 Cavalier (with power locks). I talked to a guy who works at Audio Video Unlimited, where I'd get the install done. And he said along with the car starter itself, you need a bypass kit for any car newer than a 98' I think he said. So my question is where would I get a bypass kit? How do you know what kind of bypass kit to buy? About how much are they as well? Any information about car starters and bypass kits would be awesome, thanks!
Oh and right now she doesn't have a car starter or keyless entry installed in her car at all. Just a key.
You may be trying to put the cart before the horse.
I would think that the bypass kit needs to match the remote starter, to begin with. Therefore you price the starters, pick one within your budget, and the seller will tell you the recommended bypass for that model remote starter.
Always let the salesman pick accessories for a purchase like that.
