Landrover owners!, have you ever wished you could collapse your soft top like any other convertible? Ple?
Hey im doing research into designing a collapsible top for land rovers.
However i need feed back and if possible for people to complete this list of questions, thankyou.
Which model of landrover do you own?
Do you run with the canvas roof all year?
Do you often detach the softtop assembly from the vehicle?
If no please explain...
Do you think being able to fold the roof back would prove useful?
Is it something you would invest in yourself?

Not really appealing to me to be honest.
1970 109 Diesel. Canvas roof on from April to September-ish.
Rarely detached, for security reasons mostly, but if deciding on a summer day drive, I remove it REALLY early (Nice and quiet to do) and stash it, all split down, frame, canvas, bolts and clamps, in the back. (The joy of a 109)
It wouldn't be practical for a 109 due to the length, but an 88 might benefit from it.... Although getting it to fit around the door aperture might prove difficult. Also any attachment at the rear, needs to include a flap at the upper section, above the tailgate. This may prove the sticking point of your design, as it needs to be stressed and stretched around this area to keep tension on the front "sharktooth" rail.
It wouldn't pe practical for me... I use mine as a utility vehicle, carrying tools and doing recoveries, towing trailers and the like. Probably of use to the "Leisure Army" or whatever they call themselves.
I'm not into having the latest gadget. Just something that starts!
