83 K5 Blazer Vacuum lines a mess?
I was wondering if any one has had any experience with K5 vacuum lines?
I replaced may crapjet with a Holley ant took the air pump off 8 or so years ago put the truck in storage went to a lil college and the boot camp, any ways I have it again and just rebuilt the carb and no i want to get rid of some of the vacuum lines. what ones do i need besides the dist advanced brake boost an pvc, and can i take the vac advanced straight from the distributor to the carb there is one that looks like it gos to the computer but is it needed on an 83 with out a smog pump?
well to tell you where all the lines go its almost impossible from memory. but i will give it a shot. i know that on the computer has to have constant manifold vacuum (with the engine at idle). it goes to the map sensor that in those days gm would put inside the computer for that model. now you also need the same style of vacuum for the line leading to the vacuum reservoir for your heat ac control system. as for your vacuum advance (distributor) you need vacuum only during acceleration (on the gas pedal) the rest should be for emissions and you should have a vacuum diagram under the hood or air cleaner or on the radiator shroud.oh yeah an on the air cleaner case that one is for the air divert-er to help with cold starts don't really need it but it helps.
